According to different international media, France is studying the possibility of radically reducing the number of visas granted to Algerian citizens.

According to Tunisian press, bilateral relations between France and Algeria are not going through their best moment. Already in 2021, Paris made the decision to reduce the number of visas issued to Algerian citizens by 50%, since Algeria did not repatriate its citizens with illegal entry into France.

After Amira Bouraoui case ( February 2023 ), Algeria has started to apply the same policy of not accepting illegal Algerians. Faced with this situation, several French political representatives have asked the French government not only to reduce but also to completely abolish visas.

In this same sense, the French daily Le Figaro echoes "new turbulence between the two countries", in a climate with a history of tension.

On February 8, the Algerian government called its ambassador in France for consultation on the Bouraoui case, defining this situation as "inadmissible and unspeakable, causing great damage to bilateral relations", expressing "the firm condemnation on the part of Algeria for the violation of national sovereignty by diplomatic, consular and security personnel dependent on the French State”.

Faced with this escalation of tension, France would be studying measures to stop the entry of Algerian subjects into their country.
